Lower-Income and Elderly Residents with Chronic Medical Conditions Provided Free Medical Support Through Project Big Heart

The fourth installment of a year-long, quarterly pilot program provides free medical consultation and medicine to 300 low-income residents and elderly.

4 OCTOBER 2015 – Fullerton Healthcare, in partnership with Jurong Central Citizens’ Consultative Committee (CCC) and Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre, today hosted the fourth installment of the Project Big Heart free clinic, a community initiative that provides free medical consultation and medicine to 300 low-income, elderly residents in the Jurong Central constituency.

The programme, which first opened in January of this year and has treated over 1,000 patients to date, aims to help patients with chronic diseases – such as hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol – better manage their conditions.

In addition to helping lower-income residents reduce their medical costs, the programme also aims to bring community and corporate partners together, and encourage the more-abled residents to help the less-privileged ones in the constituency.

“Fullerton Healthcare is passionate about giving back to the community, and as populations across Asia age and chronic diseases become more prevalent, we believe programmes such as Project Big Heart are vital to ensuring lower-income and elderly patients have access to quality healthcare,” said Dr Daniel Chan, Co-Founder and Deputy Group CEO of Fullerton Healthcare Group. “We have committed to Project Big Heart on a long-term basis as a meaningful way to use our medical expertise and resources as we strive to make quality healthcare services affordable and accessible to all.”

Mr. Ang Wei Neng, Advisor to Jurong GRC GROs stressed: “It is important that we ensure no group of people is left behind and we take care of those less fortunate. I am pleased to be a part of this partnership and look forward to it continuing the years to come.”
