Acquisition creates Indonesia’s first full-service corporate healthcare provider; expands GAH parent company Fullerton Health’s presence in Indonesia
Indonesia, May 20, 2016 – Global Assistance & Healthcare (GAH), a subsidiary of Fullerton Health, Asia’s leading provider of corporate healthcare solutions, today announced that it has acquired PT JLT GESA. Established in 2002, PT JLT GESA, which trades under the name of Medilum, is one of Indonesia’s largest managed healthcare and third-party administration (TPA) providers.
The acquisition combines Medilum’s expertise in managed healthcare and third-party administration, and GAH’s existing range of healthcare services, which includes medical evacuations, remote medical services, occupational health and mobile medical check-up. Together, the companies’ combined services represent Indonesia’s only complete, integrated corporate healthcare solutions company and the country’s third-largest managed care provider by market share.
GAH currently employs over 800 staff in Indonesia and specialises in remote medical services, where the company staffs, equips and operates healthcare services for organisations in mining, oil & gas and construction, among other industries. As part of Fullerton Health, the company has expanded to serve over 3,500 healthcare providers throughout Asia.
Medilum, which provides healthcare benefits administration and risk management services to over one million members, has a dedicated team of over 80 medical professionals and 300 experienced employees who work in partnership with clients to actively manage their health risks, enabling access to a broad network of providers and insight into healthcare risk management.
“Indonesia is the world’s fourth-largest market and represents a significant opportunity to GAH and Fullerton Health,” said Mario Babin, President Director of PT JLT GESA (Medilum) and Managing Director of Fullerton Health Indonesia. “By combining the respective capabilities of our Indonesia businesses – Medilum, GAH and Tirta Medical Centre – and leveraging on Fullerton Health’s industry-leading technology, we are able to deliver Indonesia’s first truly holistic and integrated corporate healthcare offering. Together, we are able to create more value for our clients and better care for the patients we serve.”
The acquisition further expands Fullerton Heath’s presence in the region, supporting the company’s mission to transform healthcare standards across Asia through technology and make healthcare more accessible and affordable throughout the region.
“We’re delighted to welcome Medilum into the Fullerton Health family,” said Dr Michael Tan, Co-Founder and Group CEO of Fullerton Health. “With Medilum’s expertise in managed healthcare and third-party administration, it is a natural fit for Fullerton Health. Medilum shares our vision to provide the highest levels of care to clients and patients, and we look forward to integrating the company with our existing portfolio in Indonesia.”
